This procedure involves removing healthy skin from a completely unaffected area and then using it to cover the damaged or repaired skin area. The skin graft technique is usually used to cover large wounds, burns, fractures, cleft palates, and areas of skin that must be removed due to certain conditions such as cancer. The area where the grafted skin has been attached is then closed for 5-7 days so that the surgical wound dries completely.
