Bleeding Gums? Understand the Cause for Proper Handling

Bleeding gums is an indication of wrong brushing habits or even gum disease. However, not everyone has the same factors that cause sufferers to experience bleeding gums. If it is not immediately treated properly it can cause an infection which can result in worsening gum health.

Causes of bleeding gums

Not only the problem of brushing the wrong teeth, the following problems can be a cause of bleeding gums.

traumatized

Gums are soft tissue like skin, thin and filled with blood vessels. Therefore the gums are redder than other skin tissue. Often when chewing the food we eat can injure the gums, for example fish spines. Fish spines that enter between the teeth can puncture the gums, causing the gums to bleed.

Dental and oral hygiene

Accumulation of food residue that is difficult to clean, such as in the area between the teeth, and if not cleaned can cause the food residue to settle into the gum sacs. Conditions like this are certainly very uncomfortable if it really happens. Besides gums bleeding easily, bad breath can also be a very disturbing complaint. Therefore, cleaning between the teeth with dental floss (dental floss) is highly recommended for sufferers who have crowded or uneven teeth.

How to brush teeth

How to brush your teeth is the most basic thing in maintaining healthy teeth. However, the wrong way to brush your teeth can cause bleeding gums. If you press too hard when brushing your teeth, it can traumatize your gums and make them bleed. And if the pressure is too soft when brushing your teeth, food residue may still be stuck on the surface of the teeth, which is difficult to clean.

Periodontitis

Abnormalities in the gums are certainly related to the periodontal tissue. Symptoms that are often seen when experiencing periodontal disorders are marked by red, swollen gums, bleeding easily, and pain. This is due to the accumulation of tartar which is exacerbated by other factors, such as poor oral hygiene, crowding of teeth, heredity, bad habits and also certain medical conditions such as diseases caused by genetic factors.

Tips to prevent bleeding gums

Cleaning tartar regularly is one thing that needs to be done in maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. Because by cleaning tartar or scaling it can reach areas that are difficult to clean with a toothbrush, such as cleaning the gum pockets from food residue or bacteria which at the same time maintains healthy gums so they don't bleed easily when brushing your teeth because the gum sacs are clean of tartar. Cleaning tartar can also keep teeth clean and healthy because it can reach the back of the teeth and is difficult to clean if you use a toothbrush head that is too large. Perform tartar cleaning at least once every 6 months while monitoring overall dental and oral health.
